Terms of Service

Welcome to Bondfires. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Bondfires mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Bondfires, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Bondfires, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Bondfires is an asynchronous video-based platform designed to help people build meaningful connections through thoughtful, time-shifted conversations. The Service allows users to:

• Record and share video posts ("Bondfires") in camps
• Respond to other users' Bondfires with video responses
• Participate in asynchronous conversations within communities
• Join or create camps—public, invite-only, or personal hearths for friends and family

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Bondfires. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old and that your use of the Service is permitted by these Terms and applicable law.

Bondfires is not currently intended for children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we may suspend or delete the account and associated information.

To keep teen and adult communities separate, accounts for people age 13–17 can only discover and access teen Camps, while accounts for people age 18 and older can only discover and access adult Camps. We apply this boundary to public discovery, Camp membership, invitations, and content access. Existing memberships and ordinary invite links do not bypass it.

A teen and an adult may share a specific private Hearth Bondfire only through a short-lived, single-use family invitation that the recipient explicitly accepts. Acceptance creates a user-declared Family Connection that can be used for future private Hearth invitations and revoked by either person. It does not permit cross-age public discovery or Camp access. Bondfires does not verify or represent a Family Connection as legal guardianship or a biological relationship.

Because a birth date does not include a verified time zone, we conservatively keep a member in the teen group through the full UTC date of their 18th birthday; access to teen public spaces ends at 00:00 UTC the following day. A private Hearth participant grant tied to an active Family Connection may remain available after that transition until the connection or participation is revoked.

4. User Accounts

Account Creation

To use Bondfires, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information, including your birth date for age eligibility and camp access rules. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

Birth Date Corrections

Your birth date is used for eligibility and teen/adult community separation and cannot be changed directly in your profile. If you believe your birth date is incorrect, contact support to request a correction.

Account Security

You're responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that harms the community.

5. User Content

Your Content

You retain ownership of all videos and content you create and share on Bondfires ("Your Content"). By sharing Your Content on Bondfires, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

Content Standards

You agree not to share content that:

• Violates any laws or regulations
• Infringes on the rights of others (including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights)
• Is harassing, abusive, threatening, or discriminatory
• Is pornographic, sexually explicit, or contains nudity
• Promotes violence, illegal activities, or harm to others
• Contains spam, malware, or other malicious content
• Impersonates others or misrepresents your identity

Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, moderate, and remove content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these standards.

6. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using Bondfires, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

Our Content

The Service, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by Bondfires and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service without our written permission.

Your Content

You retain all rights to Your Content. By sharing Your Content on Bondfires, you represent and warrant that you have the right to share it and that it doesn't violate any laws or third-party rights.

8. Community Guidelines

In addition to these Terms, you agree to comply with our Community Guidelines, which establish expectations for respectful, authentic engagement within the Bondfires community. Violations of the Community Guidelines may result in account suspension or termination.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Share false, misleading, or fraudulent information
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
• Use automated systems to access the Service (scraping, bots, etc.)
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service
• Resell or commercialize the Service without our permission

10. Fees and Payment

Bondfires offers a free core platform. We may offer optional premium features or subscriptions in the future. If you choose to purchase premium features, you agree to pay all applicable fees as described at the time of purchase.

11. Termination

By You

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the app settings.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including if you violate these Terms, engage in harmful behavior, or if we determine it's necessary to protect the Service or other users.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We may delete your account and associated content in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BONDFIRES AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bondfires and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

15. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with Bondfires, we encourage you to contact us first to try to resolve it informally. If we can't resolve the dispute informally, these Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [Location] for any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. General Provisions

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bondfires regarding the Service.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms doesn't constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
